Car Insurance Calculator
Estimate a rough car insurance planning range from simple assumptions; not an insurer quote.

What this result means
The result is an educational scenario, not a premium quotation. Real pricing can depend on age, location, claims history, insured value, coverage limits, occupation, vehicle details or medical underwriting depending on the product.
How to compare policies properly
Compare like with like: coverage limit, deductible or excess, exclusions, waiting periods, territorial scope, optional benefits and cancellation terms. A cheaper premium can be worse value if the coverage differs materially.
Before you buy
Ask for the current policy wording and product information. Confirm who the insurer is, how complaints are handled and whether the intermediary is appropriately authorised.
Use the estimate as a sensitivity test
This calculator is most useful when you change one assumption at a time. Try a higher annual mileage, a different vehicle value and a different deductible, then note which input changes the planning range most. That gives you a structured list of questions to take to a real insurer or broker.
What the model deliberately leaves out
The tool does not attempt to reproduce an insurer’s underwriting model. It does not use driver age, postcode-level risk, claims history, exact vehicle classification, garage status, no-claims class or insurer-specific discounts. Because these variables can materially affect a real quote, the result should never be treated as a market price.
How to use a real quote afterwards
- Match the coverage level used in your comparison.
- Check driver restrictions and annual mileage assumptions.
- Compare deductibles on the same basis.
- Read repair-network and optional-benefit conditions.
- Confirm the effective annual cost, not only a monthly headline.
Turn the estimate into a like-for-like comparison
Use the same annual mileage, driver assumptions, coverage level and deductible when comparing scenarios. Changing two variables at once makes it difficult to understand why the result changed. After you receive a real quotation, replace the illustrative values with the insurer’s figures and review the policy wording.
Important items the calculator does not price
No-claims history, vehicle rating factors, driver restrictions, optional assistance, repair-network terms and insurer-specific underwriting can materially affect a real premium. The tool therefore shows arithmetic only; it is not connected to insurer tariff systems.
- Keep assumptions consistent between scenarios.
- Use the result for planning, not as a quote.
- Confirm final terms in the insurer’s current documents.
